Meet Sherrie
If you’re here you probably already know me. Or, maybe you don’t. If you don’t…Hi, I’m Sherrie (also known as Pixel Gypsy in the digital scrapbooking world). Nice to meet you. :) Introductions just really aren’t my thing. They give me that “get up in front of a room full of people to make a speech and realize you’re in your underwear” feeling. Not good at all. So…I’m going to skip all the blah, blah, blah about the nuts and bolts of my life. It’s not really that different from that of anyone else, therefore doesn’t warrant long description. Or—maybe it is, but giving too many details of my life would endanger the secrecy of my super-hero alter ego. You never know…
For several years I’ve been maintaining two blogs—one for my personal stuff and another for my work-related stuff. I’ve decided to consolidate everything into this single spot for my own sanity…as well as in the hopes of becoming better about blogging on a personal level. My business blog always got lots of love and attention. My personal one…sometimes, not so much.
A little bit about the things you might see on this blog:
Digital Scrapbooking–I design and sell digital scrapbooking products. I love making digital layouts. I’m the Digital Editor for Scrap n’ Art Magazine. I’m the Digital Scrapbooking contributing writer for About.com. I occasionally write about digital scrapbooking for other publications. Yes, there will most certainly be posts about what I’m designing, what I’m scrapping and what I’m writing. :)
Photography–Photos go hand-in-hand with scrapbooks. Beyond that, I have an interest in portrait photography. I most certainly will be sharing some of my photography. Be forewarned–I’m not guaranteeing it will be good photography. ;) I’m learning. Be gentle with me. :)
WAHM Stuff–If you have no idea what WAHM stands for, you’re probably not one (yet, at least)! WAHM stands for Work-At-Home-Mom. I will, from time to time, be covering this topic. Being a WAHM is not as easy as it sounds. I’m sure I’ll be talking about what works for me (and might for you too!), where I have room for improvement and the strategies I plan to try in order to become a more efficient WAHM.
Little Bits of Me–Rounding out this list is my disclaimer that I will be posting little bits about some of the things I really enjoy in life. I will be most definitely mentioning my kids, my husband, our pets, stuff that strikes my geek fancy, things that inspire me, new things I’m trying out…the list goes on.
Note: My life is touched by Autism. Both of my kids have varying degrees of this developmental disorder (our daughter has ADD as well). You will see mentions of this throughout this blog, but it isn’t the focus. Autism is a fact of my life, not the fact. Just as I don’t want my kids to be defined by their disabilities, I don’t want to be defined by their disabilities either. We don’t spend our time trying to “cure” our kids in an attempt to make them more “normal.” We prefer to focus our time and energy on helping teach our kids to develop ways to navigate the world that works for them without making them feel that they need to be ashamed or embarrassed by who they are. Every family has their own way of approaching Autism with regard to treatment. I respect other families’ choices as personal and individual. Please try to do the same for me and my family within the confines of this blog. Thank you. :)
Now…if you’re thinking, “why in the world would I come to read all about this stuff?” I’d just like to point out that in the midst of all this kind of sharing, you just might figure out my super-hero alter ego identity. What could be more exciting that that, right?
