Family Fun

At the end of August my step-son flew out from Washington to spend a week with us before it was time for everyone to go back to school. We made a pilgrimage north to Mackinac Island, one of the cornerstones of Michigan tourism. It’s this sleepy little island in Lake Michigan between the lower and upper peninsulas. There are no cars allowed on the island except for two emergency vehicles. The police ride bikes and horses. (They impound illegally parked bikes, too! Ha!) Even UPS delivers packages from a horse drawn wagon. I love this little island. Even swamped with summer tourists, it doesn’t lose its old time charm.

Here are a few shots of our shenanigans for the day. (Nicholas was hanging with his Granny since walking for miles and exploring old forts and buildings isn’t really his thing.)

Clowns…all three of ‘em! :p

And here’s an oops photo that I inadvertently fell in love with after the fact. :)
