I’ve been having a ton of fun writing for About.com and getting the opportunity to meet new digital scrapbookers through my work with About.com–and that work would keep me pleasantly busy from month to month. But, it seems that somewhere in the back of my mind, I’m not happy unless I’m really challenged. That’s the only thing I can think, because I recently became the Digital Editor of Scrap n’ Art magazine too! The chance to help shape the digital section of this magazine is exhilarating and an amazing experience to have under my belt. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t just a wee bit intimidating too. It takes a lot of attention to detail and organization to keep a publication (or a section of it, for that matter!) running smoothly. I have a very specific vision in my mind of what I want the Scrap n’ Art digital section to be. Now I just have to pull it off. ;)
Yesterday I was approached by a couple of friends to be involved in an upcoming project too! This one is still in the envisioning phase, but I’m wondering how I’m going to wiggle this one in with my other commitments. The thing is, it’s just too cool to pass up!
As I sit here trying to not feel overwhelmed, I must admit that I like having a full plate. It keeps my brain busy, keeps life from getting repetitive and I really like the challenge of it all. With a combination of a great deal of work and family life all mixed together, I never get bored–and I hate being bored. At the same time, it does make me wonder if I’m not a little bonkers. When my to-do list is longer than the number of hours in a day, I really get to feeling that I’m nuts and I long for days where the free time outweighs the things that need to get done. But deep, deep down I know that will never work for me. I’ve tried it a few times. I wander aimlessly through my “free time” feeling slightly adrift. I need to be doing something, creating something, contributing to something. One thing I know for sure is this: when I look back on a life lived, I won’t be able to say that I didn’t try out all sorts of stuff–because I do, and it keeps me very, very busy. :)

Is that the super-secret project that Whit turned down?

Nope, Deb. That’s something totally different. :)
