CHA Photos (Pt. 1)

by Sherrie

Many of you may not know this, but my trip to CHA was the first time I’d been out of town (or even at home over night!) without either my kids or my husband with me. It was fun, but felt rather weird being 300 miles from home and from the little ones & hubbins. I spent two days at the show (just one night in the hotel–savin’ the green, yo) and I opted to drive rather than fly since Chicago is a mere 5 hours from my door.

Before I get to the photos, let me impart a few things that I discovered on this trip:

  1. Though my family can make me insane, I love them gobs and gobs. I missed them terribly and wouldn’t necessarily want to go away alone (even for work), if I could avoid it.
  2. Live blogging is tough stuff folks! I ended up not updating the coverage page nearly as much as I wanted to because I was trying to juggle talking to manufacturers, taking pictures and meeting people–not to mention that my phone battery thought the live blogging thing was no bueno. (I had to make phone charging pit stops more than once.)
  3. My About.com editor, Rebecca, is way cooler in person–and I already thought she was really nice prior to meeting her “for real.”
  4. Candy R. is the woman who knows everyone! After twenty minutes with Candy I’d been introduced to more people than I can keep straight.
  5. I love, love, love being involved in a craft-related industry! I met so many people who are so passionate about being creative–what a wonderfully inspiring environment to be in!

Ok…enough with the blabbing. Here are a few photos from my first day in Chicago. :) (I am, btw, pleasantly surprised with my camera phone. I can print 8×10 and they look pretty good SOOC.)

Some of the goodies from my press kit. Having media credentials kind of rocks. Notice there's candy too. These people know the way to my heart! ;)
Some of the projects I saw really got me thinking I should dive into some hybrid.
Super cute little journal. That flower is made with a punch that is made to punch different sizes, then you layer the punches for dimensional flowers. I saw LOTS of dimensional flowers on LOs.
Craft Couture was the theme this summer and I couldn't get enough of this art journaling dress made by one of the designers. I want to start an art journal, but I'm secretly terrified that I can't let go enough to just see where the art takes me.
That big flower made from lots of rosettes seriously charmed me.
I liked the slightly off-center design here.
I really admire well structured "traditional" page design that uses the space available. I may be a white-space-scrapper, but I admire pages that have a lot going on.

I’ll be back tomorrow with some more photos. :)
