52 Moments | Weeks 2 & 3

by Sherrie

It’s been a busy couple of weeks around the household and I’ve finally gotten around to processing my photos for weeks 2 & 3. I didn’t take a photo of Madison during week 2. It was a particularly difficult week for her. She learned that her first grade teacher passed away suddenly and she was dealing with her feelings over that. I know some people would say that as a scrapper I should capture all moments both good and sad, but Madison’s at a point right now where she’s not crazy being in front of the camera as it is. I felt that photographing her would be intrusive during a time that she was grieving for the loss of a teacher. I will probably tack another photo onto the end of this project for my own sense of completion so that I have 52 photos of both her and Nicholas…but the time just wasn’t right a couple of weeks ago.

I did have an opportunity to grab the camera and catch a few photos of Nicholas while he and Scott worked through some flash cards. Part of Nicholas’s language difficulty comes in the form of having problems pronouncing certain sounds and he was working very hard to get them right. I really wanted to get a visual representation of his hard work in a photograph so that when he does master his language skills he can look back and see how the accomplishment is all his. :)

This past week I caught a shot of Madison working on her homework. She’s done a tremendous job with her grades the past two years and has been holding all this year. She puts a lot of effort into those grades and being diligent about her homework is a big part of that. :)

My photo of Nicholas from this week is just a happy shot of him after school on Friday once he changed out of his school clothes into some comfy clothes and was getting into the mood of relaxing for the weekend. He loves going to school, but Friday afternoon usually sparks a special energy in him. I think he really looks forward to a couple of days of unwinding after a week of hard work. :)
